Funeral at Home of Son Charles and at Woodland Church Friday After an illness of about two and a half years Mrs. Rose Kimmel, mother of Charles and Walter Kimmel, passed away at the home of Mrs. Letha Rowland who has been caring for her during her illness. She was 78 years of age and leaves besides the sons, four grandchildren. The husband died about two and a half years ago. The funeral will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Charles Kimmel and at 2 o’clock at the South Woodland Brethren church, burial at Woodland cemetery. Obituary of Rosa Kimmel. Rosa Kimmel, daughter of John and Mary Furlong, was born in Maryland, December 1, 1860. The family moved to Ohio, and located near Dayton or Pleasant Hill when she was quite young, and lived there about 12 years. About the age of 17 she came to Michigan with the rest of the family and located in the east central part of Barry county. At the age of 20 she was united in marriage to Amos Kimmel, March 25, 1880. Soon after her marriage she was baptized and united with the Church of the Brethren at south Woodland. To this union were born two sons, Charles and Walter of Lake Odessa. In May 1880 she and her husband moved to Sebewa, Ionia county, where they had purchased a farm, and where she lived until September 1936 when she became confined to her bed and was cared for in the home of her brother for a few months, and then went to the home of her son Walter Kimmel, December 23, 1936, and was cared for there until May 1938, then went to the home of Jennie Frantz who cared for her until November 22, 1938, then went to the home of Mrs. Letha Rowland at Lake Odessa, where she departed this life at the age of 78 years, two months and 20 days. The was only one month and four days difference in the allotted number of days of earthly pilgrimage of Amos Kimmel and Rosa Kimmel. She spent several years of poor health and during the past two and one-half years was confined to her bed. Her suffering was cheerfully and bravely endured and patiently awaited the call of her Master. She renewed her faith in the Heavenly Father by the anointing services. By her departure she leaves two sons, Charles Kimmel and Walter Kimmel of Lake Odessa, and four grandchildren of Lake Odessa; three brothers, William Furlong of Freeport, Harve of Nashville, and Calvin of Woodland; five sisters-in-law and several nephews and nieces. She always made mention of those who called at her bedside to bring cheer and comfort to her in the long hours of waiting for the call of her Heavenly Father. May the Kind Father richly bless those who assisted in caring for her, also those who comforted her in a cheery call, a spray of flowers, letters, post cards, birthday cards, and Christmas cards.
