Dorothy Louise Kimmel, 84, of Portland passed away Monday, Aug. 12, 2002.  She 
was born Feb. 24, 1918, in Danby Township, the daughter of Anthony and Ella 
(Pennfield) Pitch.  Mrs. Kimmel enjoyed gardening, especially her roses, being 
outdoors and spending time at her cottage in Howard City.  Dorothy loved her 
children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her dog, “Lady.”  She 
attended the Section School in Danby Twp. and loved to go to garage sales.

Surviving are her children, Stanley (Sue) Kimmel, Richard (Sharon) Kimmel, 
Harold Kimmel and Patti Hearld; grandchildren, Douglas (Michelle) Kimmel, Amy 
(Robert) Wolcott, Michael Kimmel, Julie Kurkierewicz, Linda Kimmel, Stacey 
(Steven) Tropf and Katie Hearld; and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted by Rev. William Amundsen, Pastor of First 
United Methodist Church of Grand Ledge at 11 a.m., Friday at the Schrauben-
Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland, with interment following at 
Portland Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., 
Wednesday and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday at the 
funeral home.  For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the 
American Heart Association in memory of Dorothy Louise Kimmel.  Arrangements 
are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.
