           John Kincaid

IONIA-John Clay Kincaid, age 78, of Ionia passed away on Wednesday October 11, 
2023. He was born on December 16, 1944 in Rushville, Indiana the son of William 
and Melissa (Benedict) Kincaid, jr. John was a veteran of the United State 
Marine Corp.,serving as a Sergeant during two tours during the Vietnam War. He 
later was the founder of the Veteran's Court for treatment and recovery in 
Ionia.He worked for the Michigan Department of Corrections-Michigan Training 
Unit for 23 years and was a counselor and hostage negotiator for many of those 
years. John was very proud of his work on writing a war journal and editorial 
called "Talking Out Loud". He graduated from Northwest Missouri State University 
and Grand Valley State University with a B.S. in Psychology.

He was preceded in death by father, William Kincaid, Jr.(Killed in action in 
WWII), his mother, Melissa Kincaid, and brother, William Kincaid III of New 
Castle, Indiana. Surviving are his son, Sean Kincaid; daughter,Erin (Kevin) 
Rozek; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild.

Military Honors will be in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana. 
Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes. A Celebration of Life will 
be held at First Presbyterian Church of Ionia on October 28th, 2023 at 2 P,M.  
In lieu of donations or flowers, please "pay it forward," the way John did.
