The body of Theodore King arrived in Lyons on the late Pere Marquette train Saturday night and was taken to the home of H.A. Ranger. It was accompanied by Clayton L. Ward of Laurel, Delaware, and Paul King, only son of deceased. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, Rev. W. W. Hurd officiating, assisted by Mesdames Bradt and Hawley in the singing. There were many floral offerings. The pall-bearers were W.C. Hawley, John Hale, E. B. Hale, G. H. MacGillivray, M. E. Brown and E. S. Fuller. Interment in Lyons cemetery. Mr. King was born in New York state and was a resident of Lyons for many years. About two years ago he sold his property here and went to Laurel, Delaware, and purchased a house and a few acres in a then sparsely settled part of the village. Soon after things began to come his way and a decided boom took place in the vicinity of his home and he platted his property and sold lots at a good price. But a longing for old friends and ill health caused him to dispose of his home and household effects preparatory to moving back to Lyons. He still kept the vacant lots as they were rapidly increasing in value. He had been ailing for some five months prior to his death, but his illness did not become serious until about five weeks ago, when he took to his bed. He died about 12 o’clock Wednesday night, October 12th, and it came as a sudden shock to his friends there as his condition was decidedly improved just a few hours before his death. Deceased leaves a widow, son and daughter, all of whom were present at the funeral.
