He was married to Cornelia Vanorman in 1864 and to this union one child was born, which died in infancy. Mrs. King died five years ago next January. Mr. King came to Michigan with his parents, two brothers and three sisters in 1854. He took up land from the government in Campbell township, Ionia Co., near what is now Elmdale, Mich., where after his marriage he resided for a number of years. Selling this farm, he moved to North Plaines Township, where he lived until about ten years ago. He then moved to near Muir, and resided there until his wife’s death. He has since made his home with his nephew, Miner King, two miles west of Freeport and resided there until his death. Mr. King leaves to mourn his death, his adopted son, Elmer King of Muir, one sister, Mrs. Chas. Richardson and family, one sister-in-law, Mrs. H. King and several nieces and nephews. Mr. King was a kind husband, a good neighbor and had many friends. His health has always been good until about two years ago when it began to fail. For the last eight months he has received almost constant care by his nephew, Miner King and wife who have the sympathy of the whole community. The funeral services were held from Miner King’s residence on Friday, August 12, at 9:00 a.m., conducted by Rev. A.M. Bostwick, and interment in Muir, Mich.
