He was born in Virginia, Dec. 8, 1808. When a small child his parents moved to Kentucky, where he spent his youthful days. In 1832, he was married to Miss Catherine Lockheart. She died about 23 years ago. In 1849 he moved into the state of Indiana, and in 1869 he moved to Michigan, near Ionia, where he lived until his death. He died at his son-in-law’s, Mr. Geo. Cory’s. He was full of energy, in the last few years he would talk to town nearly every day and always in a hurry. About one year ago, he fell on the sidewalk in Ionia, receiving injuries from this fall which left him helpless through life. Four daughters and one son are yet living, eighteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. When 20 years old he united with the Baptist church, in which faith he died. The funereal services were held on Friday, conducted by Rev. D. H. Shelly, in the Easton church, at which place he was buried. The Dildine M. E. church choir rendered fine music.
