He was born on March 4, 1933 in Greenville, the son of Charles and Lillian (Smith) King. Elmer had retired from Extruded Metals as a truck driver and had been working for contract Dewatering Co. of Saranac. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Elmer enjoyed hunting, fishing and music and loved to sing. He was married on March 17, 1951 in Belding, to June Briggs and she survives along with their children, Linda (Raymond) Krieger, Sandy Mollenkopf (fiancé, Stephen Childs), Barb Alman all of Belding, Vicky (Wayne) Linebaugh of Greenville, Cheryl (Scot) Cable of Crystal, Brenda (Curtis) Petersen of Greenville, Elmer King Jr. and Tracy King of Belding and Brian (Sherry) King of Sheridan; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Kenneth King; his sisters, Esther Truax, Florence Martin, Lorraine Packard, Loretta Merritt and Hazel Renewic. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernie, Stanley, Earl, Clarence, Howard and one brother in infancy; and a sister, Margie. Funeral services for Elmer will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Father Troy A. Nevins officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the committal service at the V.F.W. Hall in Belding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Joseph School Tuition Assistance Fund.
