Surviving are his loving wife of 22 years, Janet J. King; and his five children, Donald II (Suzanne) King, Patricia King, all of Detroit, Alice (Robert) Brown of Toledo, OH, Cynthia (Daryl) Jackson of Elyia, OH, and Daniel (Cindy) King of Minneapolis, MN; and two step- daughters, Brenda (Don) Beezley of Stevensville, and Kathy Carlson of Saranac. He will also be greatly missed by his 13 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren. A decorated veteran of World War II, Donald proudly served in the U.S. Army. He retired from The Elyria General Motors Plant after 25 years and was an avid genealogy enthusiast… spending hours recording the family history. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles, golfing and spending time with his family. Donald greatly enjoyed the winters he spent in Florida. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 22nd at the Central United Methodist Church, 912 Fourth Ave. Lake Odessa,, where Don was a member. Pastor Eric Beck will officiate and visitation with Donald’s family will be one hour prior to the service. A private interment ceremony will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lima, OH. on Friday, September 23. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central United Methodist Church or Spectrum Health Hospice in appreciation of their support.
