King, 82, of Greenville, passed away late Monday evening, Feb. 3, 2003, at Metron of Greenville. He was born April 7, 1920, in Greenville, the son of Theodore and Mary Austin King. A veteran of World War II, Cecil served with the U.S. Army as a military policeman and was a life member of both Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101 in Greenville and Olson-Kiste Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4406 in Belding. He was a retiree of Detroit Gasket-Extruded Metals in Belding. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Stella Scofield King; a brother, Eddie King; and two sisters Bernice Scofield and Doris Petersen. He is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Clara and Vern Wheeler and Wanda and Lloyd DeWitt, all of Greenville; several stepchildren; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. General services are 11 a.m. Friday at Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, Greenville, conducted by Commander Mike Crysler of VFW Post 4406. Military honors will follow at Otisco Township Cemetery near Belding. Envelopes for memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan-Big Rapids office are available at the funeral home, where the family will receive relatives and friends 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday.
