King, aged 74 years and a long time and well known former resident of the community northeast of this city, passed away Sunday at the Muston Convalescent home on Ionia street. Mr. King had been in poor health for a long time and following the sale of his farm some time ago, had been a resident of this city, making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Elmer Heether, on S. Alderman street. Mr. King was born at Blue Island, Ill., and in his early life was for 20 years a brakeman in the employ of the Rock Island railroad. Coming to this community more than 30 years ago he took up farming and was engaged in that occupation until failing health made the disposal and sale of his farm necessary. He then came to reside at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Heether, in this city, and some time ago went to the Muston home where he could receive the constant care needed. Surviving are, in addition to the daughter, a son, George King, of W. May street, this city; a brother, Louis King of Detroit; a sister, Mrs. Adolph Draper of Troy Grove, Ill., and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock, from the Ellis funeral home, with Rev. H.S. Ellis officiating and burial was in Otisco cemetery. Pallbearers at the funeral were: Lee Luscombe, Richard Dietz, Norman Lee, Ben Donovan, Don Fisk and Michael Connolly File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/k/king29382nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 1.9 Kb
