Mildred S. King, 85, of Galveston, Texas formerly of Belding, passed away 
Thursday, February 19, 2004 at Southeast Memorial Hospital in Texas. She was 
born August 11, 1918 in Ionia the daughter of Euries and Phebe C. Conner 
Scott. Mildred served as a nurses assistant for the State of Michigan, 
retiring in 1979.

She is survived by two children, Carolyn McCarthy of Conroe, TX and Wayne King 
of Grand Rapids. Mildred is also survived by three grandchildren; her sister, 
Ida and Ben Benson of Florida; and her brother, Gordon and Fran Scott of 
Alaska.  She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Grace, 
Esther, Joyce; and one brother, Jerry.

Funeral and committal services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Feuerstein 
Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor Connie Shatz of the Belding United Methodist 
Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. 
Interment will be in Orleans Township Cemetery next to her mother and infant 
brother, Edward. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer 
Society.
