KING EUROPEAN WAR VICTIM JAN. 22 ------------ The Rev. and Mrs. Fred King, who live about a mile and a half sourthwest of town, were notified by telegram from the war department Monday that their son T/4 Estle Vaughn King, 28, was killed in action in Lluxembourg, January 22. He was serving in the medical corps attached to Get. George E. Patton's Third army. He graduated from Hastings high school in 1934, then took a year of post graduate work at Woodland high school. He later attended the Michigan State college short term course, 1937-38. He was a member of the West Lowell U.B. church and had always been active in church work. Estle entered service March 24, 1941, and received training at Ft. Custer, then was given a three months special course in mechanics at Ft. Benning, Ga He went overseas in November, 1942, and served in Iceland, England, Ireland, France and Germany serving in the same outfit all the way through. Surviving are the parents, a brother Theron at home, and hs fiancee, Miss Vendela Johnson at Battle Creek.
