Mrs. Charity King was found dead in bed at the home of her son, Allen King, in Woodland township Sunday morning, old age and heart trouble being the cause of death. She retired Saturday night as usual and death came quietly, none of the family having heard Mrs. King make any call or noise. Deceased had been a resident of Woodland for over forty years with the exception of a couple of years when she lived with her daughter, Mrs.John Gerkey of this place. She was about 84 years of age and was born in Virginia and when 19 years of age was married to Basler King who died twenty-two years ago. She experienced religion when a girl of sixteen and has stood by the courage of her conviction and her life has been such that she was prepared for the end. She leaves seven children -- John, Mrs. John Gerkey, Allen and Mrs. Ed. Cunningham of this vicinity; Jacob King of Charlotte; Mrs. Huldah Warren and Mrs Nancy Whipple of Custer, Mich. Another son, James, died last fall. The funeral was conducted at the M. E. church Tuesday, Rev. W. H. Skentelbury of Watervliet officiating. Interment was made in the family lot in Lakeside cemetery.
