November 30, 1904 FELL DEAD IN ROAD WM. KING DIED OF HEART DISEASE TUESDAY. HE WAS RETURNING HOME Mrs.Haskell Saw Him Fall and helped To Move Him Into House-Probably Died Almost Instantly-Leaves Wife and Two Sons. The neighborhood around the Tamarack was greatly shocked last night to learn of the sudden death from heart disease of one its most prominent resident, William King, who dropped dead while returning from the Myers farm which he and his son had recently purchased, and where he had been working. He and his son went to the farm in the morning to repair the chimneys on the house and to do other repairing and at four o'clock the younger man started for home with a load of wood while his father remained and started for home on foot about five o'clock. As he got into the road, a neighbor, Mrs.Haskell saw him fall to the ground. She and her husband hurried to him, carried him into the house and summoned Dr.carpenter from this place but it was of no avail for Mr.King probably died instantly. We go to press too early to give other tan a brief mention of the sad event and the obituary will appear next week. deceased was a highly respected citizen of this township and worker in the U B Church. He was greatly loved by his friends and neighbors who much regret the loss of a truly good man he was between 50 and 60 years of age and leaves a widow and two grown-up sons with whom the sympathy of the entire community rest, in their sad bereavement. Dec.7, 1904 Obituary William King was born in Seneca Co., O.,March 6, 1847, and was the son of Archibald and Elizabeth King. It was in this county that his boyhood days were spent and here that he became acquainted with Miss Mary J.Lincoln whom he married at Tiffin on January 31st, 1875. They came to Michigan in 1992 and settled on a farm southwest of this village which has since been their home. As was mentioned in last weeks issue he and his son recently purchased the Myers farm of forty acres and were returning from the same when Mr.King was stricken down. Mr.King had been almost a life-long Christian and since coming to Woodland township, had been a member and an active worker in the U.B.Church. He was a man of exemplary habits, profoundly respected by his friends and neighbors and a man of whom done could speak ill. He was a kind and indulgent husband and father, and upon the faithful wife falls the heaviest of the burden of sorrow but while she has lost what was perhaps, nearest and dearest on earth to her, she still has two stalwart sons who are left to provide for and cheer her in the remaining years of her life, and upon them now rests many responsibilities, occasioned by the death of their father which they so deeply lament.
