At the age of 8 years he came with his parents to Canada and settled near Osh(wash?), Ontario County. In 18(65?) the family came to Michigan and for a number of years resided near Lowell (Kent County). After the death of his mother, Mr. King went to live with his sister in Berlin where he has since resided. He leaves to mourn his loss one brother, William King of Orange (Twp) and five sisters: Mrs. James Grant of Berlin, Mrs. Mary Jones of Lowell, Mrs. Frank Walker of Lake Odessa (Ionia County), Mrs. Emily Leary of Saranac (Ionia Co), and Mrs. Lee (Green or Greer) of Big Rapids. The funeral was held from the home Monday, March (8?), the Rev. Philo of Clarksville officiating. Interment was in South Boston Cemetery (Boston Twp, Ionia Co, MI)."
