Ionia Sentinel - Thursday, Dec. 23, 1886

One day last week as Alanson King was driving from Saranac to this city he was 
attacked with a stroke of apoplexy. He fortunately had a gentle horse which 
went at once to the residence in this city, where Mr. King was found in the 
bottom of the wagon. He grew rapidly better and started again for Saranac, but 
when near the fair grounds he was again taken worse and returned to his 
residence, where he died last week Wednesday. The funeral was held at the 
house, corner of State street and Lincoln avenue, Friday afternoon at one 
o'clock, and the remains buried in Highland park cemetery.
