He was born March 4, 1933, in Greenville, the son of Charles and Lillian Smith King. Elmer had retired from Extruded Metals as a truck driver and had been working for Contract Dewatering Co. of Saranac. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Elmer enjoyed hunting, fishing and music, and loved to sing. He was married on March 17, 1951, in Belding, to June Briggs. She survives, along with their children, Linda and Raymond Krieger, Sandy Mollenkopf and fiance Stephen Childs, Barb Alman, Elmer King Jr. and Tracy King, all of Belding, Vicky and Wayne Linebaugh, Brenda and Curtis Petersen, all of Greenville, Cheryl and Scot Cable of Crystal, Brian and Sherry King of Sheridan; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Kenneth King; his sisters, Esther Truax, Florence Martin, Lorraine Packard, Loretta Merritt and Hazel Renwic. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernie, Stanley, Earl, Clarence, Howard and one brother in infancy; and a sister Margie. Funeral service for Elmer are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Father Troy A. Nevins officiating. Interment is in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, A luncheon will follow the committal service at the VFW Hall in Belding. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Joseph School tuition assistance fund.
