He was married to Mary Gilson Aug. 11th, 1844. He moved to Canada in 1851 and lived there until the year 1864, when with his family he came to Michigan, settling in the township of Lowell, Kent Co., working in a cradle factory for some time and afterwards moving on a farm in the township of Boston, Ionia Co., where he died. Deceased leaves a widow, two sons and five daughters. Some time in January last he met with a change of heart and has lived a true christian to the last and his good works will follow him. He was an honest, hard working man and will be missed by a large circle of friends. His last words were "I am going home." The funeral was held Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the So. Boston M.E. church, Rev. A. T. Luther conducting the services.
