May 2, 1929 MANY FRIENDS MOURN MRS. JENNIE KINGMAN Family Loses Loving Wife, Community Loses Faithful Friend. Large Funeral. Many Flowers. The profusion of flowers and the large attendance at the funeral are testimonials of the love and respect held for Mrs.Jennie Kingman who passed away a her home Wednesday of pneumonia. Everything that medical aid and loving hands could do was done to save her life. Mrs.Kingman's smile, genuine friendliness and ability won her many friends not connected with the family. The family have the sympathy of many friends. OBITUARY Mrs William Kingman Jennie Elnora, daughter of Rosalie E and Vernon C.Watkins, was born on July 20,1867, in Fulton county, Ohio. With her parents she came to Michigan in the spring of 1869. They settled on the farm in Odessa township, which has since been the family home. She attended the Algodon district school. Later she went to a private school in Big Rapids, where she studied music. Upon her return home she continued her musical education. On December 24, 1889, at the age of twenty-two she was united in marriage to Allyn B.Geddes of Cleveland, Ohio, at the West Odessa United Brethren church. Mr and Mrs Geddes made their home in Cleveland and later in Ann Arbor, Michigan. To them were born one daughter, Mildred. Mrs.Geddes died on May 14, 1893. Mrs.Geddes was married to William Kingman of Charlotte, on April 11, 1895. They lived on the farm in Odessa township where their son Paul was born. They moved to Albion in 1919 and returned to the farm home six years later. When Mrs Kingman was twelve years of age she united with the West Odessa United Brethren church and has lived a consistent and beautiful Christian life. In 1907 she transferred her membership to Central Methodist church, Lake Odessa, where it has since been with the exception of the six years spent in Albion. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Royal Neighbors. Mrs.Kingman was a woman who combined in a most pleasing personality the Christian graces of sincerity, friendship, dignity, industry and love. She gave such wholesome expression to the spirit of her life, that to know her was to love her. The coming years can not but add to the appreciation of her spirit and her influence for good. She is survived by her husband; the daughter and son, named above; one sister, Mrs.Blanch David of Lansing; a niece, Miss Christine Holt of Jackson, besides a number of other relatives and a large number of friends. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Saturday afternoon. The sermon was by Rev. O.F. Bulman the pastor. The music was by Bruce Walter, violin, accompanied by his sister. The flowers were profuse and beautiful typical of the beautiful life departed. Burial was at Lake Side cemetery. There were fifty cars in the procession. The services at the cemetery were under the auspices of the Royal Neighbors. Among those from away to attend the funeral were Albert ad Alfred Curtis, Mr Frank Batdorff and Emerson Batdorff of Sault Ste Marie, Mae Batdorff and daughter, Loraine Adams, Mr and Mrs Horace Champlin, Mr and Mrs Wm. Shumway, Mr and Mrs Orin Anway, all fo Grand Rapids, Mrs Cora Bair and daughter, Mr and Mrs Verl Anway of Detroit.
