The Ionia County News, Thursday, April 27, 1933

Job Kingston, for 88 years a resident of Ionia county, died at his home in 
Ionia township Thursday evening, April 20, after several months illness.

Deceased was born in Merlin, Ontario, Nov. 26, 1841, and came, with his 
parents to Ionia county when he was three years old.  His early playmates were 
the Indian children and he knew many of the hardships of pioneer days while 
helping to make the family home here.

On December 23, 1866 he was united in marriage with Miss Otilla Randall, who 
survives him and has cared for him during the long months of illness.

Sixty years ago Mr. and Mrs. Kingston bought the Ionia township farm which has 
since been their home and where the funeral was held at two o’clock Monday 
afternoon, April 24.  Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Paul L. Stewart 
of the Church of Christ and burial was in Tuttle cemetery.

Besides his widow, Mr. Kingston is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Emma 
Kingston, five grandchildren, Burton Kingston, Ionia township; Mrs. Harry 
Youngs, Berlin; Mrs. David McCord, Easton, and Job and Fred Worden, of 
Sheridan and several great grandchildren.

Hosts of people attended the funeral services for this fine old gentleman, 
their neighbor and friend.  Those from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Beam, 
Lansing; Mrs. Carrie Chrismore, Dr. and Mrs. E. A. Schilz, Grand Ledge; Dr. 
and Mrs. W. B. Klindstecker and Ada Kelsey, Grand Rapids; Mrs. Mina Randall 
and son Frank and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bowerman, of Grandville; Grace 
Rosenberger, Mr. and Mrs. J. Colbridge and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Colbridge, 
Clarksville; Mrs. Clara Goodsell and daughter, Lake Odessa; Mrs. Fred Allen, 
Chesaning; Mrs. Rilla Spooner and daughter, Middleton; Mr. and Mrs. Fred 
Conner, Pontiac; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Rader and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Ira Shilton, 
of Portland.
