He died at his home in Ionia township July 18, 1915; aged 70 years, 5 months and 22 days. He was the youngest of a family of six children—two girls and four boys. One brother, Job, and many other relatives and friends are left to mourn his death. He was a good farmer and a good citizen, and was loved by all who knew him. He earnestly called on God in his suffering hours, and we firmly believe he is safe on the other shore, where pain and sorrow are no more and friends are singing evermore. Let us meet them there. To live in hearts we leave behind, is not to die. Card of Thanks: We express our sincere heartfelt thanks to the friends and neighbors for their kindness during the sickness and at death of our dear brother and relative. To the Woodmen for their kindness and to the Elks for their beautiful service at the burial. Also for the flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Bourton Mr. and Mrs. Job Kingston And other relatives. Joseph Kingston, well-known Ionia township farmer, south and east of city, whose illness has been twice noticed in these columns within a fortnight—his illness being of about two weeks’ duration, died on Sunday morning at four o’clock. He was aged 70 years, and was an early settler in the neighborhood where he lived so many years. Funeral service at the late home on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, Rev. E. E. Branch officiating, with the beautiful ritual service of the Elks at the graveside. Interment in Tuttle cemetery. Additional Comments: Transcriber’s Note: The birth year is stated as 1895 which would not make him 70 years old in 1915. However, the above is transcribed as printed in the original obituary.
