A year later removing with his parents to a farm east of Carson City where he resided until the death of his mother in 1867. He then went to Ionia to live with friends and attend school, and where he worked in a shoe store. When still a young man he returned to Carson City and on Dec. 31, 1877 he was united in marriage to Miss Drusilla England by Rev. Samuel Kitzmiller. To this union were born four children, Sadie, Howard, Benjamin and Keith, Benjamin dying when two years old. In 1878 he went into the shoe business in Carson City where the family resided until the fall of 1897 when they moved to Greenville. Mr. Kipp united with the Methodist church of Carson City the winter of 1891 and was a member of the official board of that church. He also served one term as treasurer of the village of Carson City, and had been an Odd Fellow over thirty years. Mr. Kipp passed away at his home in Greenville, Friday, November 27, 1914, after a lingering illness, and is survived by a widow, a daughter and two sons, two brothers and two sisters and a number of relatives, his father dying at Carson City in August 1881. Funeral services were held Monday morning at their home in Greenville and the remains brought here and laid to rest in the family lot in the Carson City cemetery, Rev. H. V. Wade using the full committal service.
