MUIR- Lawrence R. Kirby, 66, of Stone road, died Thursday morning at Ionia 
County Memorial hospital following a short illness.

He was born December 31, 1911 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Edward and 
Lydia Kirby.

He moved to the Muir area when he was 10 years old and attended Muir public 
schools.

Mr. Kirby was an employee of the Ionia Free Fair Association.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Johnson of Vickeryville, two 
stepsons, Paul Thornton of Muir and Russell Curtis of Lyons, five step 
daughters, Mrs. Betty Ellis and Mrs. Helen Snyder of Lyons, Mrs. Dixie Twigg of 
Sunnyvale, California, Mrs. Judy Hartman of Ionia and Mrs. Darlene Lehman of 
Muir, two brothers, Royal of Ionia and Ernest of Lyons; seven sisters, Mrs. 
Ethel King of Charlotte, Mrs. Mabel Hunt of Lansing, Mrs. Marjorie Shepley of 
Florida, Mrs. Blanche Bredice and Mrs. Pauline Adair of Ionia, Mrs. Ruth 
Witherell of Lowell and Mrs. Josephine Sheldon of Greenville; 29 grandchildren 
and 12 great grandchildren. 

Services are Saturday at 2 pm from Hull memorial chapel with Rev. Ralph Barton 
of Temple Baptist church officiating.

Burial is in Sunset memorial gardens cemetery.
