Kirby, 38, of 3099 N. Bellamy Road, Orleans township, died at his residence Friday after a lengthy illness. He was born May 8, 1940 in Muir, the son of Julius and Myrtle Kirby. He attended Lyons high school and was a construction worker until 1973 when he retired due to ill health. In July 1974 he married Marilyn Heald in Ionia. He was a resident of Muir until June of 1978 when he moved to Orleans. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Kirby of Ionia; wife, Marilyn of Orleans; one son, Marty Joe; one step-son, Scott Heald; one step daughter, Angela Heald, all at home; three brothers, Louis of Greenville, Bud of Stanwood and Leonard of Saranac. Also surviving are six sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Ward of Lake Odessa; Mrs. Dorothy Jackson of Lake Odessa; Mrs. Marie Smith of Ionia; Mrs. Ella Mae Dye of Ionia; Mrs. Emma Jean Stanton of Ionia and Mrs. Mildred Edmonds of Belding. Funeral services were today (Monday) at 2 p.m. at Hull Memorial chapel. Rev. Ralph Barton of the Temple Baptist church officiated. Burial was in Muir cemetery.
