Oct. 31, 2018 MARY KIRGIS, 91 Mary E. Kirgis, 91 of Stanton passed away at home on Monday October 29, 2018 under the loving care of her family and hospice. Mary was born on August 23, 1927 in Lyons, MI. She was the only child of Edwin and Eva (Lincoln) Albright. On November 29, 1946 in Muir, she married R. G. Kirgis and together enjoyed over 58 years of marriage until his death in 2005. Creative, would not begin to describe Mary, she loved to do just about anything she could get her hands on. She was known for crafting, knitting, painting, doing silk flower arrangements, gardening, scrapbooking, painting ceramics, and the list goes on! In her younger days she loved to square dance with R. G., was a member of the "pool pals" at Montcalm Community College for 25 years, and an Eastern Star member in Lyons. She is a member of the First Congregational Church of Stanton, and previously was a member at Shiloh Community Church. Most of all, she delighted in her family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving Mary are her children; Kathy Rucinski of Canton, Greg (Molly) Kirgis of Belding, Mike (Charlene) Kirgis of Ionia, Rod (Deb) Kirgis of Grandville, David (Cynthia) Kirgis of Carson City, her grandchildren; Christine Hart, David Rucinski, Sarah Rucinski, Jon (Emily) Rucinski, Stephen Rucinski, Zachariah Kirgis, Jessica (Taylor) Swihart, Caleb (Katie) Kirgis, Nathan Kirgis, Rhett (Stephanie) Kirgis, Tate Kirgis, Carrie (Chet) Ames, Tracy (Phil) Paauwe, her great-grandchildren Haley, Gehr, Charlie Ann, Parker, Harper, Griffin, and her feline companion, Tony, who spent many hours with Mary sitting on her lap. She is also survived by many extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday November 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Simpson Family Funeral Homes, Sheridan with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 507:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside service will be on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakwood cemetery in Muir. Memorial contributions in memory of Mary may be directed to the Ionia County Animal Shelter or the First Congregational church of Stanton, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
