Former Hubbardston Resident Is Buried
Body of D.L. Kirkpatrick, Who Had Been Resident of Village For 50 Years, Dies in
Ontario

Hubbardston, Dec. 13. – The body of D.H. Kirkpatrick was brought here last
Saturday.  His death occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Amy Hoag, at
Aylmer, Ont., Thursday.  Mrs. Hoag and son, Donald, accompanied the funeral
cortege.  Interment took place Sunday in the family lot, Westside cemetery.  Up
to two years ago, when he removed to Alymer, deceased had resided in this
village for fifty years and was interested in all education, humane and social
movements for the uplift of humanity.  For many years he had been connected with
and contributed to the society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.  Having
at the time of his death attained the ripe age of ninety-two years, he was ready
to pass on to the next world and the meeting with his wife, who preceded him in
death twenty years ago.  Apropos of his death, a letter received from Mrs.
Charles S. Langdon, who with her husband and father, Myron Goolthrite, are
touring to Florida, states: “We went out of our way at Hogenville, Ky., to visit
Lincoln’s birthplace.  A very imposing marble building on the hill shelters the
log cabin in which Lincoln was born.  A large card file stood in one corner of
the room which contained an index of the names of all who contributed to the
building, which was built by popular subscription.  Father could not remember
whether he gave or not, but found his name and also Mr. Kirkpatrick’s, the only
two from Hubbardston.  Saw many Lansing and St. Johns names, also Ira Cummings
of Carson City.
