Officers Pronounced Death by Accident. Charles Klahn aged 70, a farmer of South Boston and a brother of John Klahn living just west of Lake Odessa was hit by an automobile on M-16 last Friday. Mr. Klahn lives in this county near the Kent county line and is a prosperous farmer. On Friday he was driving home a cow when an automobile was approaching, the cow decided to cross the road and Mr. Klahn jumped into the road to herd her off and misjudged the distance from the on coming car and ran directly into its path. He was hurled to the side of the road and was dead when the driver of the car reached him. The car was driven by W. H. Millard of Pittsburg, Pa., Genrl. Agent for N. Pacific R.R. who with his wife and two daughters had started on a vacation trip to Northern Michigan. They had driven from Pittsburg that day and were scheduled to spend the night in Grand Rapids. Mr. Millard did all he could do, calling a doctor who pronounced Mr. Klahn dead. Coroner Boynton and Sheriff Cook of Ionia investigated the affair and pronounced death due to accident. Mr. Klahn is survived by his widow two daughters and one son.
