He was born in Germany and came to this country with his parents when he was a young boy. He was married to Miss Wilhelmina Christie of Lowell on October 28, 1886. About 53 years of their married life were spent on their farm two miles west of town, and four years ago they retired from farming and moved to Lake Odessa. Mr. Klahn was a member of the official board of Central M. E. church a number of years ago, and for several years was a director of the old Lake Odessa State Savings bank. He is survived by the widow, four children, Arthur in Lansing, Mrs. Venon Koutz, Alton, and Ernest in Odessa; three brothers, William near Alto, Henry and George at Elmdale, and Fred in California, and a sister Mrs. Elizabeth Averill in Grand Rapids; also eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Wortley & Baine chapel Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Charles E. Thies of Central Methodist church, officiating. Interment was made in Lakeside cemetery.
