Klahn 17 found dead in his car Frederick Charles Klahn 17 son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick B. Klahn, 11964 Portland Road, was discovered in his car, dead from carbon monoxide poisoning at 8:30 on Wednesday morning. The medical examiner placed the time of death as Monday night. He left a note. The body was discovered by Mrs. John Minges, 4375 Timpson Avenue, in a gravel pit near her home. She saw the car, and went to investigate and immediately called the sheriff’s department. “Chuck” as he was known among his friends was a junior at Lowell High School and only this week was to have been honored for being the leading seed salesman in a contest sponsored by the state FFA Chapter. He was an on-the-job training student at the Lowell Ledger office. Mrs. Klahn notified the police on Tuesday, that her son was missing and an investigation revealed that he was at school briefly on Monday to pick up his books. He was seen in the evening, driving through the city by several of his friends. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the Roth Funeral Home. Chuck is survived by his parents; three brothers, Douglas, David and Gordon; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lavern Klahn of Lowell Township and his maternal grandmother Mrs. Anne Smith of Saranac.
