She lived in the farm home until the fall of 1927 when she moved with her mother and sister to the home where she lived until the time of her death, March 12, 1946 at the age of 47 years and 12 days. Nellie taught school about four years. In 1912 she joined the South Boston Congregational Church and remained a faithful member as long as the church organization existed. Last year she joined the Alto Methodist Aid Society. She leaves to mourn their loss one sister, Mildred, who is left alone in the home, one brother Laverne and wife and family residing on the home place in Boston township, besides numerous relatives and friends. Nellie had an unselfish character and gave freely of her time and strength to care for her mother during her last years. She was carried to her last resting place by six of her cousins. Funeral services were held at the Roth Chapel and were conducted by Rev. R. C. Johnson of Elmdale. Burial was in the South Boston cemetery. Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Levi Curtis of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Nye, John Shumway and daughter, Mrs. LeRoy Cat, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Kontz and Alton Klahn all of Lake Odessa. A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled; A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. God in His wisdom has recalled The boon His love has given; And though the body slumbers now, The soul is safe in Heaven. “Words hard, so hard, to speak them When love has bound the heart. “Tis hard, so hard, to speak them “We must on this earth part.” Dearest loved one, we must lay thee In the peaceful grave’s embrace, But the memory will be cherished “Til we see thy heavenly face. Card of Thanks: We wish to express our heartfelt thanks for the kindness and sympathy sown to us during the passing of our sister, by our relatives, friends and neighbors. Mildred Klahn, Verne Klahn and family.
