Gerard M. Klenk, 79, of Ionia, died on Thursday at the Ionia County Memorial 
Hospital.  He was born, the son of Jacob and Marie Harr Klenk, on April 27, 
1913, in Ionia.  He was graduated from SS. Peter and Paul Academy.  He was a 
veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army/Air Force.  He was a member of 
SS. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church, Ionia.

He is survived by his wife Irene; his son William of Lakeland; three 
grandchildren; two step-sons, David Hunsberger of Calif. and Lee Hunsberger of 
Portland; two step-daughters, Sally Godin of West Olive and Mary Durst of 
Calif.; his sister Dorothy Thelen of Ionia; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at SS. Peter and Paul’s Catholic 
Church, Ionia, with the Rev. Charles Hall officiating.  Burial will be in 
Washtenong Memorial Park, Ann Arbor.  The family will be at the Cook Funeral 
Home, Ionia, on Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  A prayer vigil service will be held 
8 p.m. Friday at the Rich Street Chapel.  A memorial has been established for 
the SS. Peter & Paul’s Education Trust Fund, in care of the funeral home.
