The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, December 7, 1966
Henry Kleven, 77, a retired chef, of Lake Odessa died suddenly Tuesday morning 
at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Buford Valentine.  Born in Price, Wisconsin, 
June 8, 1889, he was the son of Knute and Kirstern Kleven. 

While living in Wisconsin he managed various stores before coming to Ionia 
where he was manager of the Kroger store.  He was also a chef on car boats on 
the Great Lakes for approximately 11 years, retiring in 1954.  Following his 
retirement he resided in Grand Rapids until he moved to his daughter’s home 
about a month ago.  He was a member of the Lutheran church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. J. Eldridge of Ionia and Mrs. Buford 
Valentine of Lake Odessa; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  

Funeral and committal services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Pickens 
funeral chapel in Lake Odessa.  Rev. Elnar Unseth will officiate with burial 
in Lakeside cemetery.
