Donald was born October 6, 1919 in Belding, the son of Ray and Edna Osworth Kline. He grew up in the Belding area and graduated from Belding High School class of 1938. Prior to World War II he served in the Michigan National Guard as a quartermaster and was stationed in Grayling. Donald joined the U.S. Army as a heavy equipment operator in 1942 and served 23 months in World War II in the South Pacific, Philippines and Manila. He also drove staff car for Gen. MacArthur’s headquarters. On May 25, 1946, at his parents’ home in Belding, Donald married Letha B. Peasley, the love of his life for more than 57 years. Donald was employed 40 years as an inspector at Extruded Metal sin Belding and retired in 1981. Donald was a member of Belding Bible Church. His many hobbies included coin collections, stamp collecting, fishing, hunting and collecting antiques, many of which are in the Belding museum. He was a Boy Scout leader of Troop 68 of Belding. He was a life member of VFW Post 4406 of Belding and in the past he belonged to the Belding Oddfellows Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Ronald Kline; older brother, Lyle Kline; and two sisters, Helen Hoffmann, Doris Laux. He is survived by his wife Letha Peasley Kline; three sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Johnell Buckingham, Donald Ray and Katherine Kline, all of Orleans, Terry Charles and Jeannie Kline of Grant; two daughters and son in law, Donna Jean Buckingham, Sharon and Charles Moore, all of Shelby, Montana; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Huffman-Brigham Funeral Chapel, Belding, with Pastor G. Kenneth Martin officiating. Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
