Kline, 60, who died at his home on Jefferson street, Saturday evening, were held at the Stone funeral home Tuesday afternoon with Rev. C.A. Brady officiating. Pallbearers were John Kline, Clinton Kline, Leo Padgett, and Lewis Watson . Interment was at the Sherman City cemetery. Daniel Franklin Kline was the son of Isaac and Elizabeth Kline and was born in Henry county, Ohio, August 29, 1877. With his mother he was left the oldest of three small children at the age of five years when his father died in 1883. Following her marriage to Herman? Smith the mother settled with her family near Sherman City. On July 2, 1901, Mr. Kline was married to Alma Grace Hammond. Three children were born to them Lura Lillie, John and Mary. Lura dying in infancy. Following the death of his wife July 23, 1911, Mr. Kline came to Ionia in 1913. He was a member of the Ionia company national guard for four years and held sharp shooting honors. From 1913 to 1933 he was employed in the Ypsilanti Reed factory. October 26, 1918, he was married to Roselda Watson and one son Clinton, now a sophomore in the Ionia high school was born to them. Mr. Kline had not been well for several years but death came suddenly after two days of illness with acute intestinal obstruction. Surviving him are his wife, two sons, John and Clinton, and one daughter, Mary Padgett of Ionia, one step-daughter Mina Baxter, and a step-son Lewis Watson of Sheridan, three grandchildren, Billie and Bobby Kline and Jacqueline Padgett; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Inman of Dallas, Oregon, and Mrs. Ray Adams of Weidman, and three brothers, Cyrus Kline of Allegan, Oliver Smith of Mt. Pleasant, and Clayton Smith of Weidman. Rev. Brady gave the sermon and words of sympathy both at the Stone funeral home and at Sherman City where interment took place and a short service was held. From away to attend the services were Mrs. Ella Reichardt and son Lenard of Williamsburg, Michigan, and Mrs. Ray Adams of Weidman.
