"JOE" KLINESMITH IONIA-Carl J."Joe" Klinesmith, 69, of Ionia, died January 24, at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born January 26, 1919, in Bloomer township, the son of Warren J. and Mary e.(Graham) Klinesmith. He graduated from Palo High School in 1936, Evart Normal School, and also attended Ferris State College. He taught rural schools inIonia County for several years prior to Military service.He served as a sergeant in the Army Medical Corps during World War II. He was attached to a ship's complement detachment and served in both the European and Pacific theaters, receiving three bronze stars. He married Marilyn M.Moore, June 30, 1951, in Ionia. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Sheridan Post of the VFW. He was also an honorary member of the Girl Scouts of America and an active member of the Western Michigan Rifle and Pistol Club. Visiting hours are 7 to 8:30 p.m. January 26, at the Rich Street Chapel of Cook Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Methodist Church Memorial Fund, or the American Cancer Society. He is survived by his wife; one son, Jeff Kinesmith of Ionia; three daughters, Jane Martin of Mt.Pleasant, Nancy Klinesmith of Ionia and Diane Roskoskey of Mt.Pleasant; four grandchildren; one sister, Edna Fancett of Ionia; many nieces and nephews and cousins. Complete funeral services will be held January 27, at First United Methodist Church of Ionia, with the Rev. Keith Bovee and the Rev. Ralph Barton officiating. Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery.
