KLOMP --Gerrit G. Klomp, aged 77, of Lake Odessa, passed away in Florida on January
13, 2000, due to 
complications arising from diabetes and influenza. Mr. Klomp was a well loved math
teacher for 8 years, and 
then served as the first principal of the Lakewood High School for 25 years before
retiring in 1984. He had 
served in the U.S. army during WWII as e member of the 320th Engineers of the 95th
Division in the European 
Theater.  Gerrit is survived by Eleanor, his wife of 54 years; his children, Kenneth
(Wanda) Klomp of Gibraltar, 
Carol Fletcher of Adrian, Kathleen (Steven) Butts of Lake Odessa, Gail (Joel) Pepper
of Lake Odessa and Gary 
(Gwen) Klomp of Lake Odessa; 15 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; his sister,
Gertrude (Forris) 
Brummel of Zeeland; and his sister-in-law, Tena Klomp of Zeeland.  Visitation
Saturday from 6 to 8 PM and 
Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Koops Funeral chapel in Lake Odessa.  The
Funeral Service will be held 
on Monday, January 17, 2000 at 2 PM at the Lakewood United Methodist Church.  Burial
in Lakeside 
Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gerrit G. Klomp Scholarship Fund
at the Lakewood 
High School.
