He had been in failing health during the past year. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, October 11, in the First Congregational church of Lowell with the Rev. David Debbink officiating and Clarence Longstreet, Leon Phelps, Mylo Wheaton, Lloyd Campbell, George Hale and Charles Houserman acting as pallbearers. Interment was made in the South Boston Cemetery. Nick Kloosterman was born on August 29, 1894, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Arend and Kate (Meyer) Kloosterman. At the age of 1-1/2, he moved to Cutlerville with his parents, where he resided until his marriage to Mildred Schwab of Clarksville in 1923. The Kloostermans lived at 1035 Aberdeen Street, in Grand Rapids, for 15 years before moving to Lowell in 1939. He entered the United States Postal Service in 1926 and retired in 1956. He served his country during World War I and was a member of the Clark-Ellis American legion Post and an active member of the First Congregational church of Lowell. For the past several years he operated a trailer court on W. Main Street. Besides his wife, Mildred, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Grover (Kathryn) Buttrick of Cascade and Mrs. Austin (Reathel) Waldron of Jackson; one son, Berwyn of Lowell; five grandchildren; one brother, William of Grand Rapids; four sisters, Mrs. Forence Pauly and Mrs. Jennie Annis, both of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Fannie Hunter of Byron Center and Mrs. Mary Burns of Detroit; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
