Arthur Klopfenstein, 71, rural route 3, Lake Odessa, passed away early Sunday morning at Pennock hospital, Hastings, where he was admitted seven hours earlier, but had been in ill health for several years. A native of Kent county, near Caledonia, he was the son of Freeman and Florence (Schooley) Klopfenstein and had lived in this area most of his life. He married Vera Clemens Mar. 26, 1910 and they have lived at their present home on N. Woodland Road since 1925. A carpenter Mr. Klopfenstein developed the frontage of his farm on Jordan lake into a housing and cottage residential section now known as Eagle Point. He retired in 1952. Surviving are his wife Vera; a daughter, Mrs. Phillip (Hazel) Scobey of Hastings, two sons, Glendull of Lansing and Gaylord of Lake Odessa; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild and two sisters Mrs. Howard (Blanche) Oberson and Mrs. Ernest (Gertrude) Bever, both of Eagle Point. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 1:30 at the Pickens Funeral Chapel with burial in Lakeside cemetery. Rev. Roy Houghton officiated.
