Nov. 11, 2017 EVELYN KLOPFENSTEIN Lake Odessa, MI - Evelyn E. Klopfenstein, age 100, of Lake Odessa, passed away on Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at Froh Community Home, Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis. She was born on July 26, 1917, to Calvin and Alma (Groff) Nash in Clarksville. She attended the Mill School and graduated from Clarksville. High School. Evelyn worked as a cosmetologist in her own shop and practiced as a hairstylist in the area for many years. On October 24, 1938, she married Gaylord Klopfenstein. She was a member of the Lake Odessa Grace Brethren church for over 80 years. Evelyn and her husband, Gaylord, traveled all over the United States and Canada on their way to see their children, grandchildren, and families wherever they were located. Evelyn was a beautiful person dearly loved by her family and friends. Neighbors often stopped in to visit and chat with her as her memories of the early days were treasured. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, and work in her flower gardens. She is survived by daughter, Sharon (Ben) Smith of Constantine; son Larry Klopfenstein of Olympia, WA; granddaughter, Dana (Joe) Klopfenstein Bando of Portland, OR; great-grandson, Zach McReynolds, and great-granddaughter, Hailey McReynold, of Olympia WA. She also leaves behind other special family members, good friends, and very close neighbors, Mary and Pat Flannery, Libby and Jim Kinsey, and Wayne Hazel. She was preceded in death by husband, Gaylord Klopfenstein; grandson Mark Alan Smith; granddaughter, Rochelle Lyn Klopfenstein; father, Calvin Nash, and mother, Alma Nash. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 12 from 2 until 5 p.m. at Koops funeral Chapel, lake Odessa. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Koops funeral Chapel. Burial will take place in the Lakeside Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Grace Brethren Church, Lake Odessa, or to the Tumwater education Foundation from the Rochelle Lyn Klopfentein Memorial Scholarship at P.O. Box 15122, Tumwater, WA 98511-5122.
