Wave & Lake O.Times-August 17, 1939 ZION EVANGELICAL PASTOR DIES MONDAY Rev. G.E. Klopfenstein Loses Struggle with Typhoid Pneumonia. Funeral today. Rev. George E. Klopfenstein who has been pastor of Zion Evangelical church, just southeast of Lake Odessa, for the past six years, collapsed while preaching in church two weeks ago last Sunday, and an illness of typhoid followed ending in pneumonia and death. He was not only active as a minister but had been lending a hand helping some of his parishoners on the farms when another hand was needed. Rev. Klopfenstein was very well liked, a loyal friend and a substantial citizen as well as a faithful Christian pastor. He was a member of the Lake Odessa Minister's Association who also regret the loss of of an active member and co- worker. He was also interested in the Lake Odessa Bible conference. Rev, Klopfenstein was 48 years of age. He leaves his wife, and his wife's invalid brother Herbert Shartle and the brother's son Herbert, Jr., which makes his death a double loss to the family. He is also survived by two sisters, Mr.Hugh Anderson and Mrs.John Chamberlain, both of Niles, and one brother of Cassopolis. The funeral will be held at 2:00 o'clock today (Thursday) at the Evangelical church and burial will be in Olive cemetery, Elkhart, Ind.
