Here the husband passed away in September 1927. After that the wife lived on the farm for a while but found it was too much to keep up the responsibility there and went to live with her children. The deceased was a fine womanly character, a splendid neighbor, a loyal friend, homemaker, and a loving mother, noble attributes of the successful life she lived. Florence Amelia Klopfenstine, the eldest daughter of John and Emma Schooley, was born in London, Can., July 3, 1857, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Bever, of Lansing, March 13, 1932, aged 75 years, nine months and ten days. At the age of ten years she came with her parents to Gaines township where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage January 1, 1878 to Freeman Sidney Klopfenstine, who preceded her in death September 10, 1927. She was the mother of four children, Audrey who died in infancy, Mrs. Blanche Oberson of Detroit, Arthur Klopfenstine of Lake Odessa, and Mrs. Gertrude Bever of Lansing. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Glendull and Gaylord Klopfenstine, Richard Oberson, Elmer and Geraldine Bever; four sisters, Mrs. Lydia Raymond of Lake Odessa, Mrs. Salena Loring and Mrs. Arvilla Hoover of Battle Creek, and Mrs. Dora Noome of Grand Rapids. Mrs. Klopfenstine lived for many years in or near this village where she has many friends who will remember her as a good neighbor and friend. While among her own family she will ever be cherished as a loving mother, grandmother and sister. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Central Methodist church, Rev. A. T. Cartland officiating. The music was by Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Goodemoot and Mrs. Thomas Johnson. Burial was in Lakeside cemetery.
