Ionia Standard, 14 Feb 1890

Last Thursday morning, Fred Knapp, a young man about 23 years old and the son of 
Len Knap, of West Odessa, was cutting trees in the woods about two miles west of 
town in company with his father.  A tree was cut and in falling struck another 
three where a loose limb was lodged.  The tree fell striking young Knapp on the 
front of his head which killed him instantly.  He was a promising young man and 
much sympathy is extended for the family.
