J. Knapp, 77 years of age, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Luther Berry, in Belding, Monday morning. Although her health had been poor for the past year she had been able to be up and about the house until the time of her death. She was born in Easton township and while a small child her father died and her mother married Charles Northway. Mrs. Knapp was marred in 1874 and lived in Grand Rapids until 42 years ago when they moved to Belding and Mr. Knapp started the E. J. Knapp Paint Co., and for a number of years manufactured paints. His death occurred 19 years ago and since then their twin sons, Clifford and Clayton, have been continuing the business. Mrs. Knapp has been a member of the Doric chapter of the Eastern Star in Belding for many years. Surviving besides Mrs. Berry and Clifford and Clayton Knapp is another son, Clyde, of Pasadena, Cal., and three half-sisters Mrs. Lewis Tuttle, of Belding; Mrs. Bernice Daniels and Mrs. Fanny Emerson, of Grand Rapids, also 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the Fales funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with burial at Greenwood cemetery in Grand Rapids.
