H. Knapp, who has been very ill for months past with a cancer on his nick, died at his home north of this place Tuesday. Mr. Knapp was born Nov. 11, 1840, and was married to Cornelia R. Pike in 1872, who died in 1890. He was married to Mrs. Laura Miley in 1895 and she, together with two brothers, Edgar and Wilber, and two sisters, Mrs. John Seybolt and another one residing near Belding, survive him. He is also survived by his step- daughter, Mrs. Hale McCartney, who since the death of her husband has been making her home with her mother and helping in the care of Mr. Knapp. Mr. Knapp moved from Ionia to the farm in 1884. During his last illness Mr. Knapp has borne his affliction with patience and shortly before passing to his eternal rest expressed the true Christian spirit when he said, “God’s will, not mine be done.” He had lived a sincere and conscientious Christian life, was a man of sterling qualities a wide acquaintance and beloved by his neighbors and friends who deeply sympathize with the family in their bereavement.
