Tues. February 7, 1939 ARTHUR M. KNAPP Arthur M. Knapp, 79, a life long resident of North Plains, died Tuesday morning, February 7, at the home in North Plains in which he was born March 3, 1860. He had been ill for three years. Death was attributed to a kidney ailment. Actively engaged in farming in North Plains, Mr Knapp had been prominent in affairs of the community during his life time. In 1895 he was married to Miss Cora Herbert who preceded him in death three years ago. He was a member of the Masonic Order and for many years a director of Farmer's Mutual Fire Insurance Company. He was a past secretary of the North Plains cemetery association and for many years was active as member of the North Plains Community church being one of the church members whose efforts were directed to preserving the place of worship as an active and progressive factor in the life of the community. Surviving is a daughter, Miss Marie L. Knapp of Boston, Mass.. Miss Knapp is chief dietitian and manager of College Club of Boston. Funeral services are to be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the North Plains Community Church. A prayer service will recede the church service and will be at 1:30 o'clock. KNAPP OF NORTH PLAINS SUCCUMBS AT 79 Cass Community-Our community was saddened Tuesday when became known that an other of our old residents, Arthur M. Knapp had passed away at 7 a.m.. Mr. Knapp had been ill the past year, having been confined to the house the past few months. He was 79 years old. He was a prominent business man and widely known. Having assisted in the building of the North Plains church more than 60 years ago, he had held many offices in the church. Sunday school and other organizations affiliated with it. He had been a trustee about 40 years, also a teacher of the Young People's class about as long, and several years ago the class voted to name themselves in honor of him. He was always aligned with any community organization that was an uplift, and a personal advisor to many individuals in the vicinity. Funeral services were held at the North Plains Community church at 2 p.m., Thursday, preceded by a prayer service at the home.
