Lake Odessa Wave - Times - November 23, 1944
          MRS. H. S. KNAPP DIED WEDNESDAY MORNING
                                     ----------------
   Mrs. Horatio S. Knapp passed away at 8 Wednesday morning at her home here,
following an illness of three 
years.
   She was born Elva A. Knute on July 29, 1860, at Smith Falls, Can..  She was
married about 65 years ago to 
Ellis Thomas.  To this union six children were born, Ina Mae, Arthur E., Nellie D.,
George, Ida H., and Lee R. Mr. 
Thomas and the three youngest children preceded her in death.
   On April 26, 1900 Mrs. Thomas was united in marriage to Horatio S. Knapp and they
made their home here 
for a number of years before moving to Detroit.  Returning later they spent the past
16 years here.
   Surviving are the husband Horatio, two daughters, Mrs. Ina Mae Halladay at
Pritchard, Ala., and Mrs. Bisel 
Petersen at Springport, Mich., and a son Arthur E. in Lake Odessa.
   The body will lie in state at the Wortley & Baine chapel until Monday when
funeral services will be held in 
the chapel at 2 in the afternoon with the Rev. George J. Start of Grand Rapids
officiating.  Burial will be in 
Lakeside cemetery.
