Lake Odessa Wave - Friday June 5, 1908

Laura A. Jennings was born in Seneca County, Ohio May 7, 1836; she was married 
to Henry Miley October 25, 1857. To them were born four daughters, Mrs Alice 
Burgdefer living near Tiflin, Ohio; Mrs.Jennie McCartney of Lake Odessa; Joetta 
Ione who died at the age of two years; and Mrs Pearl Hazzard of Verlin, Mich. Mr 
Miley died June 12, 1883; they had lived near Republic, Ohio, June 20, 1895 she 
was united in marriage to Chas.H.Knapp of Berlin who preceded her to the better 
world just one week ago.

She too like Mr.Knapp, was a woman of kind and genial disposition, of splendid 
Christian character, and beloved by a large circle of friends and neighbors.Both 
Mr and Mrs.Knapp were endearing qualities ad true genuine worth. Mrs.Charles 
Knapp, of east Berlin survived Mr. Knapp but little over a week she passing away 
Tuesday. The funeral was held Thursday at the house conducted by Rev.North. Mr. 
and Mrs Wm.McCartney, Mrs H.A.Lapo and Mrs. A T.Lapo and Mr and Mrs Guy Lapo, 
relatives of the deceased were in attendance at the funeral from Lake Odessa. 
See obituary notice next week in connection with that of Mr.Knapp, with cuts of 
both. Mrs.Bertha McCartney-Brown of Detroit a grand daughter of the deceased was 
here for the funeral. Mrs. McCartney has been staying with her mother since her 
return from California and on whom the loss of her mother falls doubly hard in 
connection with the loss of her husband, also that of her step-father all within 
so short a time.
