          OBITUARY

   Mrs Lydia Knapp, daughter of Asa and Elizabeth Houghton, was born in New York in
1839 and was married 
to S P. Knapp of Ionia county in 1858. To this union five children were born: Mrs.
Hester Hammond of Lake 
Odessa, Allison P. Knapp of Colorado, Horatio S. Knapp of Detroit, Mehitabel
Schaibey of Detroit and Mary E. 
VanLeuvan of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mr. Knapp died in Lake Odessa August 18, 1899, and
Mrs. Knapp died at 
the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hester Hammond, April 10, 1917. The funeral services
were held April 14 at the 
Radical U. B. church at two o'clock, Rev. I. H. Mourer officiating.

   Those attending from away were; A. P. Knapp of Colorado, H. S. Knapp of Detroit,
Mrs. Schaibley of Detroit, 
Addison Houghton of Woods Corners, a brother, Frank Houghton, and wife of Jackson, a
nephew and Orin 
Hammond of Lansing, a grandson.
