                                 CLAYTON H. KNAPP

Clayton H.Knapp of Lincoln Lake Road, passed away suddenly at his residence on 
Jan.4. His age was 70.

Mr.Knapp was born August 9, 1891 in Grand Rapids and the family moved here when 
he was two. His parents were Eliud J. and Jeanette Knapp. He was a graduate of 
Belding high school.

Following graduation he was co-owner of the E.J. Knapp Paint Co. which operated 
here successfully for many years.He also served as Belding City Clerk from 1939 
to 1943. He was a World War I veteran with overseas duty.He was also employed in 
Royal Oak where he served as accountant for the Internal Revenue Department.

He was a member of the Belding Christian Science Church and was past master of 
Belding Lodge No. 355, F & A.M.

October 1921 he married Mary Salzman who survives.Also surviving are two sons 
Charles F.of Tecumseh and J.Gilbert of Corvallis, Oregon; One sister Mrs.Luther 
Berry of this city, one brother Clyde of Pasadena, California.

Another brother Clifford, a twin, who lived next door, passed away just four 
days before on December 31. The two brothers had made many plans which they 
hoped to carry out in their new homes.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 pm at Huffman Funeral Home in Belding on 
Sunday.Frank A.Salisbury, Church of Christ Scientist reader of Grand Rapids 
officiated.Burial was in River Ridge Cemetery.Pallbearers were George Wortman, 
Leonard Fitzjohn, Thomas Blinn Jr., Spencer Cornell, Don Brown and Lloyd 
Crandall.
