The deceased was born in 1843 in Seneca County, Ohio. He removed to Michigan thirty-four years ago when but a boy of eleven years, and has always lived in this county. He served for his county in the late rebellion until over powered by decease and was brought home by a brother. A widow and four small children are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. The funeral took place today at 1 o'clock from the Bonanza Methodist church,Rev. Stone officiating. It was one of the largest funeral ever held in the vicinity there being about thirty teams following the remains to their last resting place in the Lake Odessa cemetery. Mr.Knapp was a peace a-biding citizen, a kind neighbour and friend and was respected by all who knew him. At the close of the sermon Rev.Stone placed his hat on the foot of the coffin and requested those who felt able and wished to help the bereaved widow to put a mite into it. $8.40 was collected which was received with Heart-felt thanks by Mrs.Knapp. Haigh & Weed acted as funeral directors.
